The goal was to create a jacket that was 100% cotton but could still stand up to the rain. We tracked down Ventile, a high-density, 100% cotton fabric that naturally tightens up to become water resistant and windproof when wet. We also added a DWR coating for extra protection. Because it’s cotton, the fabric remains naturally breathable.
From there, we gave it room to move. A generous shape built up with pleats front and back, creating plenty of volume without losing the refinement of the silhouette. Pockets hide neatly behind the front pleats, while a zippered stash pocket sits underneath the placket, a little nod to the technical world of snowboarding shells.
The jacket is fully adjustable at the hem, allowing you to create a more cropped shape when you want. We used heavy duty metal zippers and snaps throughout, and the jacket is fully lined with a smooth viscose to make layering easier.
To commemorate the use of Ventile, each jacket is finished with the iconic Ventile label to prove its authenticity and its heritage
